In recent years, the role of companies in society has slowly been evolving. Beyond delivering valuable products and/or services for consumers, brands are now trying to be "Good".

A 'Good Brand' for me is one that will take action in reducing carbon footprint by taking responsibility for the environmental impact of their product by choosing the right sustainable packaging supplier that offers plastic alternatives, biodegradable, compostable and recyclable containers. 'Brands' should also make it easy for customers to figure out where they stand on sustainable packaging, and make sure its claims to be organic/ eco-friendly or green are certified by an accredited organisation.

A good brand for me, means one that is good value for money, and that is reliable. Many in-store brands for example can easily be replaced by online retailers - so when they put in effort to make my experience, a true vivid experience, then that is worth it to me.

A good brand for me is a reliable brand. A brand that can be relied upon to a) deliver “the goods” and b) be available for follow up with service, spare parts, information, advice etc if required. No matter how good a brand is, how well known, how expensive, how trusted etc, if you have an issue where there is no customer service/follow up then the “good” does not apply. Cynically ALL advertising is a gimmick. Experience is the truth. (Using, tasting, testing etc)

A "good" brand would be one that has thought about all aspects of its business. From the environmental impact, to the quality of the service and cost of the service. It would need to be branded as responsible in all aspects of business and providing the service.

I think a good brand is one that listens to what its customers want and then strives to give them this all the time. The price should be cost effective. There is no point in selling the product too cheaply otherwise the brand won't be around for too long. People will pay for quality but the brand must be consistent in this. No one wants something which they can't rely on from one week until the next. I think brands now have to take into consideration the social cost of their product too, so they have to source ingredients which are sustainable and pay a reasonable cost for these by not ripping off third world countries and their inhabitants. Packaging is another area where brands can help the environment; by using less packaging they can help to stop the waste. Many companies are doing the right thing but there are still some which leave a lot to be desired.

I also like to see product made in Australia and eco practices. their products also need to be reliable and affordable, good after sales service needs to be available in case of issues. Interesting opportunity to decide what are the factors which make a GOOD business. Things I consider are quality of the product or service and how well it suits my purpose, ability to contact and communicate with a sales representative plus the cost. I want things to be sustainable. I'd like to know if there's a guaranteed supply chain to service/ repair the product. If possible, I'd like it to be made in Australia and I'd like someone within the business to know where it was made! (Recently I wanted to buy a shirt online and contacted the "chat" person as the online information didn't state where it was made. The person I spoke to didn't know, but said she'd contact the warehouse and ask. I never heard back from them.) A GOOD brand would offer working hours which accommodated family life and pay fairly.
Gimmicks are harder to define as the range of goods and services is huge, but false advertising and "two for one" sort of offers are annoying. Claims of sustainability and the ability to recycle must be genuine, not false advertising. Things like "designed in Australia" but in the small print "manufactured in (somewhere overseas) are annoying, too.

What an interesting question!
Some things are necessary for all businesses, whilst others will have other requirements. It might depend on the type of industry in which the business operates.
For all businesses, honesty in dealing with their employees, their suppliers and their customers are non-negotiable. But also they have to be honest with themselves. By that, I mean that they have to tell the truth about things, even if they know that they won’t be found out if they tell lies. But it also means that even if it is going to cost them ‘everything’, being honest is still the right thing to do.
An example of something like this is in the recent WA State election when the Liberal Party leader who was in the job for only a number of weeks, made a statement during the campaign that he knew that his party could not win. He was ‘crucified’ by the press and by everyone else for admitting defeat before polls had opened. But he was being honest. And when the inevitable loss came, as well as him losing his own seat, he accepted responsibility for the statements that he had made and for the loss. And he bowed out of politics. To me, that takes a lot of courage and we could do with a lot more of it in business, in politics, and in the world generally.

The product would have to value for money and suit the intended purpose. A good brand would have easy to reach support staff for any questions, The contact staff should be knowledgeable and do not give you the run around.
The product should also be environmentally friendly. as well as its packaging. Easy to dispose when finished its use and be bio degradable. Leave no trace of any untoward interactions with anything in the environment.

Integrity - defined as "doing the right thing, even when no-one is watching", If a brand/company has integrity, they are looking for sustainability in their production. They are ethical in all they do (especially in supply lines and sourcing employees). They make the best possible product, just because it is the right thing to do, and they have the best staff and the best customer service, because if you look after the people, they will look after the business.
Without integrity, greed takes over.

I think a good brand is one that is created with passion and honesty: the creator/owner of the brand must give their all to make this brand one that deserves to be respected and well-liked by the customers/clients who use it. It must be hard to do so in our somewhat greed-driven world, but it is great to see that some can do it. Not only is it good for the customers, but also for the brand owner who must derive a great sense of goodness from what they have been able to achieve. And it means keeping those values right throughout, not giving away to strategies that may make more sales, but compromise the honesty of the brand. And I cannot see how a really good brand cannot take into account environmental and sustainability issues - these must also be factored in. I admire those who can develop what I consider to be a 'good brand' without compromising themselves or the brand in the process. It must be very difficult!

When a brand is passionate about a certain good cause/social element, e.g. sustainability, or factory workers rights. You can really tell the difference between greenwashing or slapping a ethical slogan on their website and when they truly consider their choices at every step of the way.

A good brand and a good company are two very different items. A good company is a company that understands service and that it must make a contribution to the society it is in far beyond simply making a profit and employing people. Companies are "citizens" and therefore must make a contribution to the betterment and well-being of their community.

There are a few things I look out for when searching for a good brand. First off I look for authentic posts or ads. One's that aren't 'TRYING ' too hard to be the next 'IT' product and are relatable. Secondly is cost and whether or not I think that it is worth the price tag they're advertising. I look at things like ingredients and bang for buck. I also look for a company that cares about it's waste and how its products affect the environment. This is a big one for me, and could make the difference between me buying their products or boycotting them.

A good brand is environmentally conscious, and is transparent about their goals and company ethics. They have to source local materials and hire local people to run stores/outlets. A good brand should be doing tangable good: donating to, or running, not-for-profits to support women and girls, homelessness, LGBTQIA+, mental health, etc.
A good brand also cares about their workers. They would pay them a decent wage, provide acceptable support and benefits. This can increase the cost of a product/service, so quality standards should be held to a high standard by a good company to make sure their customers can have a great product/service for the money they are spending.

For me a good brand is one that is locally owned and based. It uses local resources and is a sustainable company in its staffing and in its use of resources. It is customer focussed because it believes doing right by its customers is good for its reputation and consequently its business. It doesn't pay lip service to doing right by its customers. It actually prides itself on good service and good quality. It seeks feedback and acts on it where it makes good business and customer sense. It delivers quality products/service and becomes one with its customers/clients. My hairdresser is a good brand because she is part of the local community, she values her customers and is continually evolving her service to them, she uses environmentally sustainable brands and brands that help the hair rather than harm it, she is creative and innovative, enabling a client to move with the times without fear and she keeps up with good practice, continually upgrading her professional knowledge. Chefs on Wheels are another good brand.they have been going one year now and started up to support chefs who lost their job at the start of Covid. They have helped 24 chefs through this past year. They are local, innovative, professional, put the customer first and produce top-class meals using locally grown ingredients.

Good brand means obviously doing good with micro and macro management. First, the quality of the products should be distinct and the feedbacks kr response from the customers should be well appreciated. On the other hand, the company has to think as an entity that is looking after the society; not just selling their products. If the company does honestly welfare for environment or society, people will start labelling them good. It should be honest otherwise the dake showoff will be revealed later.

A good brand goes above and beyond providing a valuable and quality product or service for the customer and prioritises sustainability as a driving force in their business. This not only takes into account the environmental impacts of the brand and how to minimise them (or avoid altogether) but ensures that all those involved directly or indirectly with the brand is taken into account and benefits. This includes the working conditions and pay of designers and manufacturers to people in the future who may have to deal with waste products or materials. A good brand is conscious of its impact on everyone, now and in the future and is actively engaged in structuring itself accordingly.

To me, a "good" brand is one which has been around for some many years, has won a few awards at least, is well-reviewed and considered good value by the average imbiber, and the region it is derived from has an historic reputation.

I think a good brand is one that acrually cares about the consumers. Personally, when consumers are all saying they want the next version of something to be done in a certain way or to include a certain thing, a good brand will either find a way to incorporate that, or explain why it can't be incorporated. I think gimmicky brands say "this is what you all want" without it actually being what people want.
As well as this, I believe another aspect of a good brand is that they care about their image and how they are viewed. Some brands will go above and beyond to show everyone how they are helping the environment and other social justice issues, whereas the brands that are more gimmicky will do something simple such as make an advertisement saying that they support 'x' cause. People see the advertisement and then buy the product, but the brand has actually done nothing for 'x' cause. The brands that are truly good, will put that advertising money towards something that actual helps 'x' cause, and then do cheaper advertising through social media posts to show people what they have done to help.

I believe that a good brand is one that values their customers and whatever feedback those customers may give. Feeling valued and heard by a brand has a significant impact on whether I will purchase from them again. Take into consideration Apple products for example! They continually take into consideration what their consumers what in a smart phone and always deliver the best of the best. I think something that also makes a good brand is their stance in the world. Wether they are helping the community, the environment....whatever it may be. Makes me feel happy to support them in every way.

A good brand gives consistent value for money. It is not about riping off consumers with gimmicks- such as big boxes with very small products. They should aim to use recyled materials in their packaging which can then again be recycled.Ideally they should have a high Aussie content in their raw material to keep jobs available for the community. They may offer incentives to charity organisations or could offer time for workers to work on community projects. Maybe if they could afford it they may have in house chid care for their workers.

A good brand first consists of amazing staff with good knowledge etc. A good brand should have a bright logo and catchy catchphrase. They should have a mission statement about what is important to them and adhere to that. Treat their staff amazingly well, like a family. Be able to have a professional, safe environment. A good brand is one that is always innovating and improving in regard to benefits, sustainable and environmentally friendly practices and wants to become more efficient in production without compromising quality. I personally like companies that put a new improved product out and discontinue the older less featured and beneficial, less sustainable or environmentally friendly product, which shows they are dedicated to best practices and improving internal processes and absorbing the improvement costs as a business because a reputation of the best products is worth more than putting an extra cost for improvements onto the customer. There's an old business finance saying, if you make a good product people will flock to buy it.

A good brand truly cares about the environment and the working conditions/fair compensation in every step of manufacturing and including retail employees. They are careful to use sustainable, fair trade natural resources and recyclable packaging.
Big advertisement is used to highlight the positives while distracting from the dark side of the label. A company that does the right thing for its suppliers, workers and costumers wouldn’t need any more advertising than word of mouth.
