Hi folks
Did anyone have private insurance? Do you think it’s worth to have private insurance at the age of 25?
I found that it is controversial to have private insurance for healthy young folk. What are your thoughts?

Private health insurance is a double edged sword in terms of cost.
The major downside- You pay not only for the health insurance premium but in many cases out of pocket expenses for private inpatient treatment. This is out of pocket costs charged by your treating physician above the medicare rebate as private health insurance does not pay for your treating dr.
The upside you will have procedures in a private hospital undertaken far quicker that in the public system so this in itself can be lifesaving. Even at 25 you can become affected by serious health issues requiring inpatient treatment.
Extras I am not sure this is really worth it for the added cost but again it does depend on your health and financial circumstances.

I see it as a waste at 25 years old. We have health insurance with continuous insurance since 18 years old and we are now mid 50's. Our daughter is 27 and does not have it, as it would be a waste of money for her.
