Top to toe granny treat

Yesterday I had my very first Manicure, Pedicure and Brow Wax. Well, don't I feel like a Granny Diva. All I can say is thank God for discount vouchers, otherwise I would never have even considered getting painted and waxed. I was pleased to learn from the beautician that lots of "more mature" folk take advantage of her services. Power to me. I'm saving up for the next round. I would love to hear from my partners in pampering about their experiences.

MariaG says: To put it simply....YES, YES, YES.

Since my introduction to the occasional pamper, I have not looked back. My fingers are neater looking, my eyebrows are now separated and un-furry, and, I actually can bear the look of my feet.
As an added bonus, that hour or two being indulged does heaps for inner peace.

Would recommend the practice wholeheartedly. I'm just disappointed that I did not discover it earlier in my life. Cheers. Reply

ellyg says: Why is beauty therapy so expensive tho? a full over wax costs like over $100. I know girls that do their hair and nails every week costing them hundreds of dollars. What are your thoughts girls? Thanks Reply

MariaG says: Being on a limited budget I could not see myself doing the full pamper on a regular basis. First, I suggest shopping around. I go to a suburban salon that is quite competitive and much more personal. I have a manicure once every 5 weeks and a add in a pedicure every 10 weeks. I found a salon that gives a frequent client offer that give half price on the 8th visit. So, on the 8th visit, it will be hands, feet and eyebrows. I think I'm beyond the acceptance of wax all over...OMG, I'd have a stroke if I offered my nether regions up to the wax. Those young ladies who have hair and nails done every week are either super hard working lassies, or, have unlimited finances at their beck and call, or, forsake all others for the preening process and to hell with the expense. Each to their own I suppose. I think if I took on weekly sessions, it would cease to be a pampering and become just a personal grooming session with no satisfaction attached. I much prefer to save my dollars and look at it as a well earned treat.
No matter what one decides, it's nice to do something just for yourself. Reply

Mummygrandma says: Once a year I go to Bali where all the pampering in the world costs next to nothing. I have den the cultural bit and now I go there for shopping and pampering. It really is wonderful having massages, body scrubs and wraps, facials....the list goes on and on. I go with my sisters or my daughters. When I come back I'm a new woman. Can't recommend it highly enough!! Reply

frilly says: I have my nails redone every 3 weeks. I have a Gel finish which lasts the full three weeks, looks good. It makes the wrinkles less obvious LOL.
I have my haircut about 4.5 weeks & coloured and streaked about every 3 months. The colour which is really lifting my own natural colour seems to last that long so I am pretty lucky.
I have given up wearing make up it is too much bother my hands have developed a shake which makes mascara impossible.
Mascara is something I miss as my eyelashes are fair and not really visible.
With age I have developed a faint fuss which the salon offer to wax but that is all. I don't drink or smoke, therefor these treats are good for me and hubby. Even my grandchildren approve.
Why should we fade into the background. Actually I receive compliments from younger women who say I look good and it is good to see. Reply

We can pamper on a budget with some forward thinking.
I can relate to the compliments. Only today, my solicitor gave me a hello peck on the cheek and said "looking sassy my lady". Well, didn't that make my day. Hubby was sitting next to me and just gave a OMG sideways glance. Mind you ... it was like a mother, son kind of hello ... but ... whatever makes me smile is more than OK. Reply

frilly says: I am so pleased some one agrees with me. I feel one of the nicest compliments I received was from a young woman, in her twenties who asked how old I was she told me she was really surprised . She actually thought I was a full ten years younger.
I thought that was really lovely, she did not know me but wondered because she sees me often. I do not spend a great deal of time on myself but I try hard to do the best with what I have.
Believe me, it would be easier with Play Do LOL but that day it lifted me for weeks . Reply

Fifi10 says: I just want a massage

frilly says: I have recently had a few lower back & full leg massages, she was so gently ( I am disabled & my legs are very painful), I came away feeling so good about myself. Truly felt as if I had lost half the lines from my face as the pain had diminished, my legs that always feel uncomfortable to say the least felt totally relaxed.
This masseur usually treats footballers so I was a little concerned. I have been back a number of times. You can claim it on your medical insurance if you have it? Reply
