Discussion: Top to toe granny treat

Yesterday I had my very first Manicure, Pedicure and Brow Wax. Well, don't I feel like a Granny Diva. All I can say is thank God for discount vouchers, otherwise I would never have even considered getting painted and waxed. I was pleased to learn from the beautician that lots of "more mature" folk take advantage of her services. Power to me. I'm saving up for the next round. I would love to hear from my partners in pampering about their experiences.

Tanii says: Ive never had a real manicure, Pedicure or Brow wax. Do you think its worth while getting them done?

MariaG says: To put it simply....YES, YES, YES.

Since my introduction to the occasional pamper, I have not looked back. My fingers are neater looking, my eyebrows are now separated and un-furry, and, I actually can bear the look of my feet.
As an added bonus, that hour or two being indulged does heaps for inner peace.

Would recommend the practice wholeheartedly. I'm just disappointed that I did not discover it earlier in my life. Cheers.

ellyg says: Why is beauty therapy so expensive tho? a full over wax costs like over $100. I know girls that do their hair and nails every week costing them hundreds of dollars. What are your thoughts girls? Thanks

MariaG says: Being on a limited budget I could not see myself doing the full pamper on a regular basis. First, I suggest shopping around. I go to a suburban salon that is quite competitive and much more personal. I have a manicure once every 5 weeks and a add in a pedicure every 10 weeks. I found a salon that gives a frequent client offer that give half price on the 8th visit. So, on the 8th visit, it will be hands, feet and eyebrows. I think I'm beyond the acceptance of wax all over...OMG, I'd have a stroke if I offered my nether regions up to the wax. Those young ladies who have hair and nails done every week are either super hard working lassies, or, have unlimited finances at their beck and call, or, forsake all others for the preening process and to hell with the expense. Each to their own I suppose. I think if I took on weekly sessions, it would cease to be a pampering and become just a personal grooming session with no satisfaction attached. I much prefer to save my dollars and look at it as a well earned treat.
No matter what one decides, it's nice to do something just for yourself.

Mummygrandma says: Once a year I go to Bali where all the pampering in the world costs next to nothing. I have den the cultural bit and now I go there for shopping and pampering. It really is wonderful having massages, body scrubs and wraps, facials....the list goes on and on. I go with my sisters or my daughters. When I come back I'm a new woman. Can't recommend it highly enough!!
