Charity can be a loaded word. Yes, it is disappointing to learn these 'wide eyed kids' are not doing it for the love of it, but for money. Not made of money myself, there are a few important causes that I cannot pass up...Salvos, they are always first on the scene. The RCG Foundation and RSPCA for without those, children and animals are so dependent on those around to ensure a decent quality of life, and Karuna, the wonderful Buddhist nursing and spiritual centre for the dying and those looking after them. Feel it is always important to give back, it makes us who we are! Volunteering is also a marvellous way of giving back. I teach English to migrants and refugees, and always get far more than I put in. The people are so brave and humorous, and determined. It makes you, proud to be part of it. After a day in class, my cheeks ache from smiling and I leave on such a natural 'high'. I am one of hundreds of volunteers in this great country.
Help Caféstudy members by responding to their questions, or ask your own in Café Chat, and you will get the chance of earning extra rewards. Caféstudy will match these and donate equally to our two chosen Australian charities.
