Great skin before an important to do.

There is nothing worse, having a hot date, getting married. Having to go to some huge celebration and BAM! There it is a massive blind pimple that has come to make your life a living hell.
There are a few things that can be done to prevent this situation from occuring. I would also like to hear some other hints and tips.
The number one key here is prevention.
You can:
Drink water
Not exfoliate or mask at least 6 days prior to the event.
stay away from unhealthy foods
Ensure that you have a stringent skin care routine both morning and night.
Change your pillow case daily.
Use cleansers that don't dry your skin out like most anti blemish cleansers do.
Wear sunscreen.
Too late for that? It's there and you need to fix it now?
For sunburn, keep the skin wll moisturised and increase your water intake. It also helps to eat tomato paste as there is a vitamin that is strongest in cooked tomatoes and tomato paste is where it is most concentrated.
For pimples (blinders or otherwise)
DONT SQUEEZE you will only further inflame it!!!
Apply a pimple cream containing Benzol Peroxide or Salicylic acid, or for a natural alternative tea tree oil.
Applying toothpaste to the affected region 15 minutes before having a shower will help minimise.
Finally (last I can think of) concealer concealer concealer.
Anything anyone else has tried and tested and got results with? Reply

Miss Prim says: I use Avon's invisible blemish corrector when I have a break out which seems to do the job. I find exfoliating regularly keeps acne at bay too. Sounds like you have covered the topic quite well. Reply

bubbles says: Hi Priya
I to suffered from ingrown hairs and a beautician once said to me get on of those $2-00 exfoliating mitts and mix some salt and a little olive oil to form a paste and use some of this on mitt and rub it over legs, arms bikini area. I have not had a problem with ingrown hairs since. I store mine in the shower and just take a little out each day. Just a word of warning please ensure you clean up your shower floor as you do not want to slip. Reply

RainbowSpirit says: Hi Phoenixarizona, I had to laugh when I read your discussion. It brought back some funny memories of me when I was in High School suffering from blind pimples only when I was going out to a party or a disco. It was like my body wanted to punish me for it, even my mum noticed I only got them then as well. I learned to just leave them be, because when I tampered with them, my once blind pimple became a very obvious and sorely sight. Thank you for making me laugh : ) ps....... I like your tips ! Reply

Benzac cream is excellent and the exfolliant with a really good retina A cream. I hate pimples and I still suffer with them at 35!!!! Staying off gluten and wheat has also helped me alot too. Gluten, especially, in some individuals, can cause breakouts:( I know heaps of other tips for preventing and treating break outs:) Reply

Rhonnie says: I am amazed at all the hints and tips you guys have come up with. I use a full blown skin care system all the time and absolutely rarely get any breakouts. Of course, I am no longer a teenager! My daughters find that when they religiously use a toner, their skin is better and less affected by pimples. Benzol Peroxide is very drying and aggravates the skin much more than Salicylic acid. Reply

Nita says: I'm the same Rhonnie. I'm 41 and have had a skincare ritual since I was 13, so I've never really had problems with pimples. I think if you look after your skin, especially with cleansing and toning, the skin will thank you for it. You have to cleanse to get rid of all the gunk from the day (and a makeup wipe doesn't do the job - you need a good quality cleanser to open up pores and really get in and clean skin) and the toner to complete the process, it rids the skin of any leftover residue. I don't like Benzoyl Peroxide or Salicylic Acid, it's not something skin is used to and is way too harsh. Reply

Nita says: Definately drink heaps of water and wear sunscreen. I also agree with "no squeezing", you should NEVER squeeze. Tips for pimples:
**get a sewing needle
**sterilise needle under boiling hot water or pure alcohol
**stick needle through the top of pimple (going in one side and out the other)
**gently pull needle away from skin (this will remove top of pimple)
**press gently to remove any pus etc
**leave to heal

This way you won't get the massive red inflamed areas from squeezing. You also will be keeping the infected area more hygenic as you won't be getting the gross nasties from under your nails into the open wound, so this allows for quicker healing. Reply

Liz says: I always get acne after a fun weekend. I have tried it all. What I hate most is that my skin gets used to all products. The best luck I have had is pro active but after six months my skin went back to constant break outs. I'm hoping for one day there will be a mirical product to come out on the market that actually lasts. I don't like having to watch what eat and drink rediculus amounts of water for the rest of my life. Reply
