Replies 6Discussion: Shootings in american public places
I know it is in bad taste but have you ever wondered why these people can shoot off 40 rounds at close range and only hit such a few .

Many US states with high rates of firearm ownership have low rates of crime. Having said that, many of the massacres which have occurred in US, Europe and in Australia (Port Arthur) have been by known nutcases- it seems the civil libertarians would like to ban gun ownership- but not restrict gun ownership to "sane" people. Sine guns were freely available when I was young, and they aren't now, yet massacres and gun crime generally have increased (despite "tough gun laws", at least here and in UK) it would seem to me that there is a deep malaise in society which is setting nutters off. The breakdown in mental health services perhaps?

In Sydneys south west drive by shootings between rival gangs in public places has been an almost daily occurrence since the late 1990s? Why are we so blind to the situation in our own backyard?

Drug usage here, especially cocaine is one of the highest in the world! Also if you life in a socially disadvantaged area such as Wollongong urban public violence is a major problem. Every day ad in Sydney you here of fire arms being used in some crime!
