Elle says: I have a fair few myself- 9 to be exact and the only one visable to the public is a small 4 leaf clover on my wrist! you wouldn't know I had 9 if you saw me in the street. my grandmother doesn't like them much but in this day in age it is much more acceptable for people- women inparticular- to express themselves both verbally and visually. I am proud of every one of my tattoos and applaud anyone who wants to get one for themselves. Great scorpion by the way! :)

woosif says: Hi there, thanks for your reply, helps alot, and yes I do get it that it depends on where they are and what they are, I have spoken to over 100 persons now and my paper is about employment and tatoos - lots of employers still dont like to see them so yep i agree that if you really think about your career and what you want to do then tatoos might not really be for you, some people (some of my mates) rushed into them and oops few months or a year later hate them, others I dont even know they have one unless we are surfing! thanks again, Wend

Leng says: Im heavily tattooed, but i can always cover mine up, so that when and if i need to be what is called socially 'professional' i can be. There have been times when i think what i have done hasnt been the smartest of ideas, but each time i look at a specific part it is a memory of a time that i have placed on my body.

Gaynor says: I don't think tattoo's reflect a person being an individual, I think they show that you are a bit of a sheep. I know it is in at the moment to have a tat - especially if you are a girl - and both my daughters love tattoo's but my sister got one on her ankle when she was in her 40's so she could act like she was young - it looks stupid and is there for the rest of her life. It is not a big statement so I do not know why she did it except to impress her 5 children that she was a good mummy. Crappy if you ask me. They look worse with age and often make the bits that look great in your 20's stand out and suddenly you are 50 and would like too hide those bits more but they stand out more because of the stupid tattoo. It is NEVER a good idea to get a tattoo. Thank you for letting me get that off my chest. It has been with me for more than 10 years.

woosif says: OMG I agree totally! not for me either people think they are like a new pair of jeans and in several years they will wish they never got one - too easy to get them now. YUK

Ollie says: Totally agre with Gaynor and Woosif. Just WHO does it impress?? They DO shrink, wrinkle and fade! Same old dull ugly often tired artwork... year after year ??..never seem fresh, energetic, 'pretty' or attractive...
Of course it's all about individual perception and choice. NOTHING to be 'proud' of... for where is the achievement... sad sad person who said this then went on and on about how many they had...Who cares?
I hate them obviously and perceive people with tatts are cheap, not very bright and focused on "look at meeeeeeee!' Yes, ugly and tacky! !

Aura says: I disagree that they wrinkle and fade. I have fair skin and my colour tattoo that is nearly 10 years old still looks new and vibrant. I can also say that in the area of the lower back it will not 'wrikle'. Guess it is all really where you put it and what you have tattooed onto your skin. I personally love my dragon and because it is on my lower back it is not normally seen by the public.

Ez says: I agree Aura... while I'm not old, (29) I have 3 tattoos, none of them are unsightly or highly visible and all of them have a special meaning to me. I think it is a personal preference and not all people with tattoo's should be put into a box of being cheap, stupid and attention seeking (Ollie's comment).

frilly says: I love the ad where there is an elderly Lady using her beautiful pots and pans for cooking(of course) and she is being complimented one her choice of buying them
What a good idea it had been better than some we have and shows her elderly somewhat wrinkled upper arm circled with a a black & white tattoo that obviously just does not fit her life or style at all now.
It says a great deal with no words really expressed. Dreadful cheap nasty things. Cannot be such a good idea when most men finish so a shirt can hide them copletely if necessary. It seems to be most women and low life men who have them so widely on view
