Considering they entitled to use lethal force, and are equipped to do so, should police officers be subject to mandatory drug and alcohol testing. After all you can't work in mining or even local government without being tested and with the amount of accidents and shootings the police are involved in should not this be the first order of the day?

absolutely nette, if you cant drive a vehicle while affected by drugs/alcohol the commonsense would say that if you drive in situations like Police do or carry weapons, then you should be drug/alcohol free.
