My concern is how are they doing this?Legally that is...its not as if we dont have enough locals to be flight attendants.
Pilots are next as they look at employing contract pilots, some part time, from overseas. Many young aussies have struggeled to make it into an airline(ie getting there hours up on small aeroplanes at great expense to themselves....there wont be jobs for them if we employ foreign crew here.At the momment my daughter cant get a job as a flight attendent with them as she is a local! They are employing Thai nationals and singapore crew, yet they are doing melb -hawaii,melb. fro example...I can see aussie jobs for staff dissapearing and now pilots!Standards and safety come into question now.Pilots have been empoyed in other countries to do contract work and safty has been compromised.Casa are aware of this as is Julia Gillard...but both have done nothing! What do you think...shouldnt we be protecting aussie jobs and safety standards?

Yes blondie it is.Very hard to say what anyone can do.The press sadly will report its about Pilots wanting more money. Its not.Its about jobs going overseas ,when there are able australians who can fill the postions. Its about young women and men wanting to be flight attendants and Jetstar employing more foreign crew to do jobs an Australian can do.Its also about SAFETY.Most of the tahi crews are failing basic training here so now they are being sent offshore and wow...guess what they pass!Their English is so poor and their training so poor they are a hazard to the travelling public if there was ever an emergency.ie...recently they were asked during training to look right to see a hazard...they all looked left....and of course there is more, but I cant say who I am and reveal my identity.Sadly the pilots are quite a disjointed non unionised lot,who really are poor at pulling together. What they need is good press, that is not from the Jetstar company. They need legal advice, political support and pressure on Jestar from the public. If you want to help I suggest you right to Allan Joyce head of Qantas,or email...and say what I have said.Qantas say they want to represent Australia...but not anymore.Just where Abbott and Gillard will do is dubious.Gillard has knowledge of this and has done nothing. So perhaps Abbott is best.A big meeting of all pilots is happeneing Monday...for jetstar, but pilots from all other companies will be attending including cadets and GA pilots because for them if foriegn pilots are allowed to fly here their carreers are over.
