The nature of human beings is that we have to have a belief in something and some humans are good at creating something for others to believe in. The Holy Bible is an interesting exercise as most of the events and stories built within it do have some scientific backing albeit how it they were explained in those days was based on limited knowledge at the time.

Most religions address mankinds basic fear - death. Accordingly the main message is to conjure up something good beyond death not only for the person who has died but also as a level of comfort for those left behind.

Do I believe in the Bible - No.

Do I believe in what the Bible is trying to do? - yes.
